Tulip bulbs were once so prized they'd be sold by weight. Like carats of diamonds and ounces of gold, they even had their own special unit called amen. A still life of flowers painted by one of Holland's finest painters was less expensive than a fine tulip bulb. Today, like so many other treasures offered up by nature, they are considered more "common". Sold in bulk in supermarkets. Imagine yourself back in the day, when being able to buy a large sac of bulbs meant you were close to royalty! They're still offering up the same beauty and magic, every time they pop up in our world with their excitement to be alive each spring.
